  8. Conditions of distribution

  11. You can copy and distribute fsck (from now, with fsck I indicate the whole
  12. fsck suite) as long as you include in the distribution all the text files,
  13. executables and other bits without changing them in any way.
  14. You cannot distribute any part of fsck separately (except the file MapExpl).

  29. Magazines, PD libraries, FTP sites and any other kind of public distribution
  30. systems are free to distribute fsck, but I'd like to be informed, so that I
  31. can eventually keep them up to date.

  33. fsck CANNOT be included in a commercial package without my approvation.

  36. Conditions of use

  39. fsck is SHAREWARE: this means that you can try it but if you like what it does
  40. you have to register.
  41. Considering that fsck should not be used so often (even if it can be
  42. effectively used as a CheckMap replacement), the tipical 2 weeks trial period
  43. isn't appropriate. If you think it will be useful to you (or, even better, if
  44. it cured your disc) or if you use it regularly instead of CheckMap, you have
  45. to register.
  46. To register you simply have to send me a small registration fee (in the form of
  47. bank notes): 5 pounds, 15.000 lire, 20 marks, 10 US dollars, 50 francs, 25 Nlg.
  48. or equivalent.
  49. If you want you can include a disc and, say, 2 pounds for mail costs, and I
  50. will send you the latest version and some other PD program.
  51. I'd like to be informed if fsck fixed your HD map (and also if it failed), so
  52. that I'll update the help file.

  55. A small note
  56. ------------

  58. If you now are using an improved version of fsck, is especially because there
  59. is someone who encouraged me to continue its development by sending me a
  60. registration fee. I freely distribute this new version instead of sending it
  61. only to registered users because this is the spirit of ShareWare: I hope I
  62. will not regret of this choice!

  64. I recently finished to develop a new desktop version of the fsck suite
  65. (called FSCK³).
  66. It features:
  67. - completely new desktop interface
  68. - multitask disc scans
  69. - integrated hardfix and eliminate
  70. - file fixing
  71. - easy-to-setup automatic scan on bootup
  72. - map displayer program (including ability to show the position of the files
  73.   on disc)

  75. I don't know if I'll release FSCK³ as ShareWare or if I'll try to release it
  76. as a commercial program... I think that, in any case, I'll delay its public
  77. release until september 1995.
